coming back

It's been a rough past year for me. I feel out of doing photography for the most part. I really struggled after the birth of my third child. I had health challenges that took me by surprise and caused me a great deal of pain. I would tell the story but I don't know that I want the world to hear it. I was in a deep dark place so I'm sure that many could have guessed part of the struggle. (if I even still have readers... I wouldn't mind just talking to a wall if that is the case)

This last few weeks I've been trying to decide what I want to do for myself that would help me feel a sense of accomplishment. I associate with a lot of highly educated women and quite frankly I do not feel at all educated and feel a sense of jealousy. I've felt inferior and less of a person. I know I shouldn't at all feel that way but sometimes they will use elegant words that are far out of my vocabulary and talk about subjects that I couldn't even begin to understand. Maybe it comes with age but I'm not feeling it. I've always struggled with my academic abilities. I was often found failing in my classes growing up and had learning difficulties. I look at gals who are successful in their jobs and guilty. Honestly I shouldn't. I'm sure there are a lot of women who would gladly trade places with me and be "just" a Mommy. Don't get me wrong I love being "just" a mommy but I hate the pressure to be more than that.

Some people can be a mom full time, work full time, go to school full time but I can't. I simply can't spread myself that thin. I do feel that I need some kind of outlet though. I don't want to jump the gun and plunge right back into school or go get some kind of job but I also what to do SOMETHING. Until I figure out what that something is I think I'll just get back to blogging. It's been a long time since I have been on here and a long time since I have posted anything personal. With having the business I feared posting too much personal information but now that I'm not really doing photography as a full time business I can't really hurt anything right? It can now be a place to be real. I'm hoping that with blogging I will be able to get back to where I was before the business became too stressful. I hit a wall and it no longer became enjoyable. It became a job rather than a passion. I really do feel that the more I take pictures just for fun the more I will grow to love it again.

I was going to give up taking pictures completely due to the stress and depression that was taking over my life but I feel like that passion is starting to come back. In the 6 years that I have been doing photography I have lost two of my clients. My pictures where displayed at both funerals. I have never been more grateful for what I was able to share and contribute to their lives. I hope that I can continue to do that. I hate to give that up. I know that my photography has blessed others and also myself. I just need the passion to come back. I use to photograph my kids (with my big camera) often and now it is hardly ever. I hate that. It's become a thing where I dread it and try to do once a year. That has to end. I'm missing the everyday moments that I use to enjoy capturing. I hope that I can get over the wall I ran into and get back to doing what I love. I hope that no one thinks I didn't enjoy the pictures I have taken. It was mostly the business side of it that was killing me. I no longer depend on photography for our source of income and that takes a HUGE burden off my shoulders. It takes the stress out. I took these pictures months ago but this is what I wish I would get back into doing everyday. :)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

The older my kids get the more I get excited about holidays. I love that Emma gets into them almost as much as I do. This morning we all got geared up in our green and I went to work in the kitchen. I made homemade sandwich buns and added green food coloring. I also made green jello (with fresh fruit), a green salad, and green kool-aid. Emma at first said she wouldn't eat anything green for dinner but she ended up loving it. The only thing she didn't like was Jeremy's homemade elk burgers (that's what the sandwich buns were for). For desert I made green pineapple upside-down cake. Sadly I only took a snapshot with my cell phone so it will have to do.

I'm working hard at accomplishing all the goals I have on my to do list! One of the goals was for all of us to have bikes. Jeremy finally found his! I don't have a picture yet but I'm sure I'll have some as soon as the weather warms up. After Jeremy got his bike we were off to find helmets for him and Emma (she got a bike for Christmas). Emma was so excited about her new helmet and Jeremy was so excited about his new bike that they went for a ride yesterday with the temperature being under 40 degrees. It was also windy and rainy but they didn't care. So, one more thing almost checked off my list

Pi day and my Little girls • Idaho Falls Children's photographer

It's pi day! 3.14! So, we started a new tradition of eating pie on pie day. I got the idea from my friend Emily Dixon who has a fabulous recipe blog. Today I tried her apple pie and peach pie and they were awesome.I took pictures before they were baked just in case i burned them. ;)

This morning when Emma got up she was so excited to tell me that she had made her own bed all by herself! I didn't even have to ask! Lucky me. She was so cute about it that I had to get some pictures. Kate now has a tooth well 2 as of today and is STANDING UP on her own so I got pictures. :) Seeing my little girls this happy makes being a mommy amazing. I love my little girls!

Rexburg Temple • Fine art photographer

It's time for a vote. Which temple picture is your favorite? We are wanting to print a large canvas but there is a battle between Jeremy and I as to which one we should print.

Thanks Grandpa • Rexburg Idaho Children's Photographer

I love when I get random packages in the mail. Especially when they are full of random surprises. My Dad sent me a package with a bunch of stuff that he thought was mine. Not a single thing he sent was mine... I had fun laughing about all the random stuff like socks, small bottle of shampoo, a swim suit, and more. However, he also sent me some chocolate cake mix and frosting too so I couldn't complain too much about the randomness of it all.

For Emma he sent play-dough, a flashlight, a coloring book calendar, and a wooden barn to color. To show our gratitude for his sweet package we took lots of pictures of us enjoying it. Emma wanted lots of pictures of herself. It makes me feel guilty for not taking pictures of her more often.

I am missing summer

I was going through the images on my computer and came across these lovely pictures of Miss Emma. Oh how I am missing those trips to the park and those warm weather clothes. These pictures make me realize that I don't think I have enjoyed and soaked up my summers as much as I could have. Then I think... Am I enjoying my winter as much as I could possibly enjoy it? Tomorrow's challenge is to get out in the snow and enjoy the cold air on my face with my two little girls. Maybe just maybe I will try my luck at a snowman. Hopefully summer will come sooner than later but for now I guess I will enjoy my winter just a little bit longer...

Emma's B-day Swim Party { Idaho Children Photographer }

Emma shares a birthday with one of her cousins so we decided to get all the cousins together for a birthday swimming party. You can't go to Arizona and not go swimming! The kids loved it and so did We. Poor Jeremy was the only dad there since the other two are in medical school so he got stuck taking this snapshot. The little boy on the left side of the picture is actually Emma's uncle... but when they are together they get mistaken for twins. {enjoy}

End of Summer Projects { Rexburg Family Photographer }

Well it's that time of year... the time of year when you realize that your summer is coming to and end and all your projects are still unfinished. One of the projects that we have been working on (for over a year now) is to complete our living room. Around Christmas time we took out a heater, did some drywall, replaced lighting, and painted. Ever since then I have wanted to change out our furniture. I didn't just want any furniture though. I love the shabby chic look and decided that was going to be a go and for once Jeremy agrees on my furniture taste ;)

So... we have been looking for a while for furniture that we could restore for the look we want. Here is the first piece which is a coffee table. It's going to look awesome when we are finished. Keep checking back as we will post the completed table soon. It certainly doesn't look like much now but I had a vision and I can't wait. Enjoy.

Oh and I couldn't tell you why Jeremy is wearing socks with flip flops... Hahaha
