Goals

Every Monday night my family gets together for what we call Family Home Evening. Each week we have a song, prayer, lesson, activity, and treat. It's something that I look forward to every week. Well this week I had the lesson so I decided to do it on goals and managing time. I found a quote that really made me think. Here it is:

"I am so thoroughly convinced that if we don't set goals in our life and learn how to master the techniques of living to reach our goals, we can reach a rip old age and look back on our life only to see that we reached but a small part of our full potential. When one learns to master the principles of setting a goal, he will then be able to make a great difference in the results he attains in this life."
-M. Russell Ballard oct. 18, 1981

In the lesson we talked about setting daily goals as well as weekly, monthly, or year goals. Our daily goals should be helping us meet our larger goals. Today I've been coming up with a list of my daily goals. Some of the goals on my 101 things to do list will be accomplished if I can finish my simple chore chart. Goals like doing something fun with my family once a week for a year, and exercising 3x a week for 3 months, keeping my house clean for 6.

I know that when I have a list even if I don't finish it my days are ALWAYS more productive. I found this little chart and even though it was built for a child it makes the tasks not look so daunting. When I wrote out my "chore list" I was trying to come up with goals that would help me balance my life as well.

I wish that I could say I had all my goals for 2009 made up ahead of time but I'm just now getting around to them. I was going to make a new list but instead I decided to update and revise the one that i had. So, here it is my updated list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. I changed some of them because either they are impossible to accomplish or my needs have changed. I hope I can get most of these done this year!

Birthday Party Pictures

Well this checks off #32. Plan my daughter's 1 year birthday party. Although I didn't do alot of the planning. It was more like, ok lets bring a cake camping and we'll celebrate... Here are some of my favorites. I hate when I can't decide which pictures I like the best. You can tell from all the pictures though that my little EmmaLee wasn't feeling very good that day. It makes me a little sad that she wasn't smiling in any of the pictures :(
EmmaLee loved her birthday cupcakes especially the frosting! She would dip the candle into the cake and then lick it off. What a smart little girl!

Then she gave up that and just grabbed the whole cupcake! Still a smart little girl!

I love that she kept looking at her hand with all the frosting on it.

I couldn't pick my favorite picture of her licking her lips so you will have to see a couple

#23 Complete

I bit the bullet and bought myself a computer JUST for photography. No games, no extra programs... just what I need for editing. It was kind of a birthday present to myself because I'm so tired of editing on a slow computer! I went to the store and asked for their biggest laptop and I found this:
Photobucket
It's an hp 20.1' laptop. It's like a desktop laptop combo. Just to give you an idea of the size here it is against my husbands laptop... his is smaller than average though... :)
Photobucket
I was thinking about getting a mac but to be honest I don't think I could part with pc's. There is too much to love about them.

Time to start goal #28

I think I'm going to start goal #28 now...(28. Exercise faithfully 3 times a week for 3 months) If I tell you all that I am starting then I'm going to have to stick to it. I think I can make it if I stick to the fun stuff! Too bad they don't make videos like this one anymore. Enjoy. I sure did ;)

#4 is taking too long...

I hate when I can't sleep!!! A lot of nights are like this for me. Right now it's 2am and my mind is racing which means I could either lay in bed for an hour or two and do nothing but think or... I could update my blog.

My husband and I have been looking off and on for a house since September of last year. We had a house in mind back then but the day before we would have put in an offer it sold. I'm glad because the market has dropped a lot since then but it has happened a few times recently too... it seems like they sell just as we see them. We put an offer on a house a couple weeks ago and didn't get it. I'm just tired of looking. Tired of being disappointed and tired of waiting. I didn't know buying a house could take so long. Maybe it's not always that way... I'm just picky and I'm probably hoping for too good of a deal.Anyway I'm sure we have searched through hundreds of homes, driven by over 60 and walked through over 20 or 30.

Last Friday my Husband and I put an offer on another house and I have been waiting a week to hear back. Tomorrow I'm sure I will get bad news again that the offer was too low (even though both have been above asking price. Like I said I'm just looking for a screaming deal and they usually do go higher). I walked through the house once, we put the offer in, and I didn't want to go for a second look because I knew it would just get my hopes up even more. I know tomorrow I will probably be back to looking for a house to buy and I'm trying to prepare for that. In the time that I haven't been sleeping I made a list of 7 more homes that I might want to look at.

In a few months I'm hoping to have goal #4 off my list! (I made you all a little picture in Photoshop)

I love the outdoors

For those who don't know, I LOVE CAMPING! #89 is complete! I went camping the 6th through the 8th this month but I have been so busy I haven't been able to edit pics and get them posted. Sorry about that! Here are some pictures from the camp out. It was actually our first annual Doug Alldredge reunion!!! How fun is that! I LOVE my in-laws. I couldn't have been blessed with better ones. They are awesome! I enjoy being with them just as much as I enjoy being with the family I grew up with. I could go on and on about how much I love them but since you probably don't have all day I'll just get to the pics ;)
When we got to the camping spot we through up our new tent that Jeremy's parents got us for our early combined birthday gift. I LOVED this tent. It's so roomy and you don't have to duck to get in! EmmaLee loved it too. It was nice that she had a spot to crawl around and I didn't have to worry about her eating bugs, sticks, and rocks. Here she is helping put the tent up.

Jeremy's Dad recently bought a dirt bike. I didn't take a ride on it but I guess I'm not that brave. When Jeremy was out riding he went through a huge mud puddle and hit a rock wrong so he came out with some scratches and a hurt foot.

We ended up taking Jeremy to the urgent care in Showlow since his foot was hurting him so bad. Turned out that he sprained the arch of his foot really bad. Since he is a meter reader and can't walk around on it alot he has been off work for the last week and a half. He goes back Monday but since he is also doing real estate he has been PLENTY busy. He still gets in a least 8 hours a day going to meetings, going to classes, and building his business. It's so fun to see him so excited about real estate!
