The Last Lecture .

High School was by far my hardest of years. I was reminded of the bitter sweet memories today as I finish reading The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. This man's battle with Cancer reminds me so much of my brothers best friend Jon who died of cancer while we were in High School. He was always positive and looking ahead to the future. I was so blessed to have Jon in my life. He was such a great role model to me. If Jon were to write a book to the world I'm sure a lot of what he would have said would have been pretty close to what Randy had to say about life.

50 Simple Things
You Can Do
To Save
The World
In High School I struggled alot with Jon's death. Most days were hard to get through but there was one thing that made me extremely happy everyday and that was Honor Choir With my favorite teacher Mr. Harris. He is one of the most influential people I know. I will never forget the quote that he liked to use.

"Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away."-Maya Angelou

I have always loved that quote and after reading the book and being remind of the the things that matter most in life I feel such a need to cherish it a little more. Like Randy I want to leave behind memories for my children. I hope that if I ever leave the world earlier than expected that my children will know how much I cherished life's little moments. Here are a few moments that I have cherished the past couple months. (most were taken with our point and shoot, but it's the moment that matters) Enjoy.

I too, remember Jon, and what a truly wonderful person he was. I did not know him nearly as well as you did, but the times we talked, he was just so kind, and friendly. I remember he made me pull some hair off his arm, showing me that it was not even connected anymore so it didnt hurt.

I tear up just thinking about him and his goodness and purity.

He and your brother seemed not only like best friends, but brothers.

It is like the song lyric by Billy Joel:

"Only the good die young"

I loved this book. I read it a few months ago, and it was the final push to make my own list of things to do.

I'm so glad you know about "The Last Lecture" I learned about it through one of my ASU Instructors. It was an assignment to watch it on YouTube and write about what we thought. That was THE MOST movie video I have seen. It inspired me like no other to be better. He is an amazing guy!
