A fix it tuesday

"When I was planning my wedding, I was going to hire a semi-professional photographer that I've known for years. I had gone to the bank to get $500 in cash out to give to him to reserve my date. That afternoon, while I was at work, someone STOLE the envelope of cash out of my purse. I was devastated. I paid for my entire wedding myself, my parents couldn't afford to help. Losing $500 was a major dent in our very small budget. So I asked my husbands aunt to do it for us instead. She did a wonderful job with what she had, and I did get some beautiful pictures. But a lot of my favorites are really dark and I can't do much with them. I would love if you could take a couple and see what you can do with them for me :)"

I love the challenge this has brought on. I don't charge for this so don't be afraid to send a couple pictures over.

Danyel and Jordans engagement session • East Idaho wedding photographer

You have no idea how excited I am about this couple. Jeremy and I have had a blast getting to know them. Thanks Jeremy for being my most awesome second shooter/assistant! Is it bad that I want to post all the pictures from their engagement session? You will be seeing a lot of them because I just can't pick favorites. There is no way. :D

We started out the session at The Rex, a local movie theater. This is where Danyel and Jordan had their first date about 2 years ago. Isn't that sweet? When Danyel told me that they wanted to do pictures in the theater I was thrilled!

After the theater we headed over to Danyel and Jordan's favorite park for some pictures on the merry-go-round.

Love this one. Danyel is gorgeous!

Then to the alleys

Jeremy got this one and I told him I would for sure give him credit. Love it.

I'm getting a little carried away

Here are some more Jeremy gets credit for

Stacie's Senior Pictures Part 2 • Rexburg Idaho Senior Photographer

It's been a long week. With Jeremy reaching finals I feel like a single mom all of the sudden. Life's been good though. :D Here are a few more favorites from Stacie's senior session.

Just a little thought

I want to discourage something that I have seen many times on peoples blogs and that is pictures of their children without clothing. Kids running down the street without clothes, bathtub images, taking their diaper off.... If you wouldn't be ok with someone stealing it don't post it.

It's something you don't think about because everyone has those pictures of their kids right? I just don't feel that it is appropriate for the internet. Once your pictures are posted online to your blog they are into the hands of every person with a computer who can do a google search. You never know what kind of people could possibly steal those pictures for things that are beyond wrong.

Porn on the Web

Affecting Children

  • 100,000 websites offer illegal child pornography1
  • Child pornography generates $3 billion annually1
100,000 sites offering illegal child pornography? Six years ago? I'm definitely not going to be going to those sites to check and make sure my images haven't been stolen and used and really I think you would be outside your mind to try!

I haven't been perfect but it's something I have been thinking about a lot lately. No matter what age they are they are individuals and deserve the same respect and privacy that we would want for ourselves. Babies as well. For that reason I'm completely against Anne Geddes recent work involving naked babies with naked women and men. There is a fine line and her work I believe has crossed it. Where will the line be drawn? Do we count it as child pornography at the age of 1? 2? 5?

I hope that I haven't offended anyone but I did want to warn parents to be careful in the images they post of their children. Spread the word. Most often it only happens because parents aren't aware of the dangers. So and so did it so it must be ok... put yourself in your children's shoes and then ask yourself.

P.S. I am not pointing fingers in anyway and I am not without blame. I have taken photographs that might not have been appropriate but after some thought on it I have decided to never do it again. It really has become a new trend in the world and I would rather not follow it.

Blessings: My beautiful Daughter

I am so grateful to be blessed with Emma.

It use to be that on my family blog I would post things I was grateful for each week. Every time it was something different. Since combining the blogs I haven't done it and I would really like to start again.

I can't get enough of my daughter Emma. Other than my husband there is no person I love more. Last night as I rocked her to sleep I couldn't help but to pour some tears over just how grateful I am for her. Since i was a young child I always felt that I would be blessed with a little girl and hoped that she was somehow looking out for me through my growing years. I lived my life differently because of her. She is near and dear to my heart. I am blessed beyond measure.

Daycare

If anyone is living in the Rexburg area this post is for you. Jeremy and I found the best daycare here. It's a drop-in daycare meaning that you can show up at anytime and drop your child off. Perfect. If you forgot to get a babysitter for your special date, no problem! The best part is... It's only $3 an hour!!!! Can you believe that!? It almost sounds too good to be true. That's cheaper than a babysitter. I love that it gives EmmaLee a chance to play with other kids and the people that work there are wonderful. I really hope that they are able to keep their doors open at the start of their business. If you know anyone in the area spread the word!!!

TIME AWAY FOR PARENTS

Fix it Tuesday

Here was my first e-mail for a fix:

"So my wedding photographer was a disaster... As in he attended our ceremony (family friend), left his camera in the car ... and it froze in the cold. So he took a FEW pictures with my Dad's digital.. awful story.. anyways. I have a couple wedding pictures but that's it... so ya wanna help me?"

I told her to send all the pictures she had. Here they are. :) If our paths ever cross someday I would love to do a post wedding bridal session with them.
